Aberporth beach (Wales)

In the 16th century, Aberporth was a subsidiary landing point for the port of Cardigan. Boats, nets and salt for preserving were brought in from Ireland. It developed rapidly in the late 17th and early 18th centuries as local people began to take part in the maritime trade. It became a very active port with the northernmost of the two beaches extending into the river valley and provided a safe anchorage. Limekilns, coalyards and warehouses were built on its south shore. Aberporth developed into one of the main centres of the herring fishing industry in Wales. Drifting and netting were both employed and at one time at least 20 full time herring smacks went to sea regularly. The industry persisted until the beginning of the first World War when fish stocks declined. Crab and lobster fishing continues on a small scale to this day.

The weather was pretty cold, but I found some nice motives and, even better, some beautiful shells! We didn´t stay long, because of the temperature, but I hope we get there again, because I´d like to take a look at the little store on the edge to the beach.

First view over the beach and the ocean from the street above.
Second view...much better...even more beautiful. As you see there are some people swimming...
They wore neopren suits and practiced surfing. Maybe I´ll try that too.
The shop I was talking about.
Damn look how beautiful!
I so wanted to get in there, but it was really way to cold.

Honestly! If you get the chance to go to Wales: GO!

    1. OH YES! We had some really sunny days, a few awful rainy ones and most of our days were both (like rainy in the afternoon and sunny in the morning or the other way round). It is soooo nice in Wales!
      Thanks^^
